The First Preparations Before Childbirth
When you go to the hospital for childbirth, a vaginal examination is performed first to find out if labor has really begun. During this examination, you will be asked when your pains started and whether water has arrived. For this reason, it is useful to look at the clock when the pains start and the water comes.
If the birth has started, hospitalization procedures are performed. A serum is inserted and an enema is performed if necessary. Blood pressure is controlled. You are connected to a device called a tokogram (NST) to see the severity of contractions and the baby’s heartbeat.
In general, we can compare labor pains to light at the beginning and severe menstrual pains later. These pains are felt with contraction and stiffness in the abdomen. The pain is felt when the severity of these contractions crosses the border called the pain threshold, which is different for each individual. Some people start to feel pain very early in labor because their pain threshold is low, and according to him, childbirth is a very long and painful experience. In some of them, the pain threshold is high, they feel the pain late, according to him, the birth takes a short time and becomes easy. since everyone’s pain threshold is different, every woman’s childbirth is unique to herself.
What are the Factors That Affect the Pain Threshold?
There are several factors that affect the pain threshold. One of them is the fear caused by the environmental impact. Fear – stress – pain – fear – stress – pain… Fear causes stress, stress causes pain, pain causes fear again. if this triple chain continues in this way, the pain will feel more severe than it is. It is necessary to break this chain to ensure that the pain is felt less.
“How about a normal pregnancy and childbirth to overcome fear?” the pregnant woman should be informed about it. This can be achieved by attending pregnancy training courses, reading publications on the topic. When the fear disappears, the other two links of the chain break off on their own and the pain is perceived less. In studies on this subject, it has been found that pregnant women who have been informed about pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum baby care have fewer problems.
Proper breathing during pain is very important for mother and baby. Thanks to this, the mother feels the pain less, in addition, since the amount of blood going to the baby decreases during contractions, regular breathing allows the amount of oxygen going to the baby to increase and increases energy.
